what IS A fitness class assistant?
Evergreen Care Trust is launching FAB Fitness (Flexibility, Aerobics, Balance) this October — a new weekly wellbeing group for adults aged 55+ who want to begin exercising regularly in a friendly, supportive environment. Led by a trained Evergreen instructor, each session blends gentle movement with social time and refreshments.
We’re looking for a Volunteer Fitness Class Assistant to help welcome attendees, support the smooth running of the session, and contribute to a positive, encouraging atmosphere. This is a great opportunity to learn new skills, support healthy ageing in our community, and be part of a warm, sociable team.

role responsibilities

Welcome attendees and help create a friendly, inclusive environment

Ensure all participants sign the attendance register

Support with setting up equipment before the class

Help prepare and serve refreshments after the session

Take and record payments for the class

Follow all Evergreen Health & Safety guidance

Work collaboratively with volunteers, attendees, the Social Engagement Lead and the Volunteer Services Manager

sKILLS & qUALIFICATIONS

Excellent communication skills
-
The ability to build positive relationships with attendees, staff and volunteers

A friendly, sociable, sensitive and professional manner

An interest in fitness, wellbeing and healthy ageing

Reliability and a supportive approach to group activities

Training provided includes Evergreen Induction, online safeguarding, first aid, and an introduction to the Fitness Class Assistant role. You can explore more about volunteer training.
