Home Support Worker
About the Role:
Home Support Workers play a vital role in helping older and vulnerable people stay independent, offering practical domestic support and warm, reliable companionship. The role is varied and person‑centred, involving tasks such as food preparation, light cleaning, pop‑in visits, laundry, shopping trips and general household assistance, all while building positive relationships with individuals and their families. Professionalism, empathy and commitment are essential, and all work is carried out within Health and Social Care guidelines. This is a non‑personal‑care role focused on meaningful support that makes a real difference every day.
working hours and pay:
The role is paid at £12.71 per hour from 1 April 2026, with variable working hours between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday, and no weekend or bank holiday work required (aside from the initial induction morning). Your hours will depend on the number of member visits assigned to you and may change over time, and while we aim to match your availability, we cannot guarantee set hours due to the nature of the service. Working patterns and expectations will be discussed in more detail at interview.
What you'll need:

Previous experience in the support of older or vulnerable people in their own homes.

Reliability.

Empathy and a caring nature.

Diligence in the work you do.

Good communication (verbal and written).

Care certificate/L2 on Health and Social Care (an advantage).

UK driving licence and roadworthy vehicle covered for business use.

Relevant/valid DBS clearance (for adult workforce) - if you do not hold this already, we will apply for this, at your expense.

For our Home Support Worker roles, we can often fit hours around your personal circumstances/commitments, so there's a great work-life balance.

There is no weekend or bank holiday working (attendance at 1 x Saturday morning staff induction is required upon joining).

Our normal hours are between 9am - 5pm.

We aim to partner workers with members (as much as possible).

We support training and personal development.

We offer 5.6 weeks holiday per year (pro rata)

There is a contributory pension scheme.

We pay a mileage allowance of 45p per mile.

We pay for travel time.

We provide uniform and ID badge.

Role holders can gain a care certificate.
