RESEARCH AND TRAINING
Why Volunteer with Evergreen?
Why Research & Training Matters at Evergreen
Evergreen has long believed in the importance of partnership working and joined-up thinking as essential practice. We understand the need to respond to the changing needs of those we support in our community, ensuring that our services remain meaningful, effective, and person centred. This commitment also extends to our team. We recognise the importance of recruiting, training, and supporting a highly valued workforce that is well-equipped to deliver responsive, high-quality care. Research and evidence-based practice are an increasingly important part of what we do. By engaging with current research, we continue to strengthen and improve the services we provide across our organisation.
At The Evergreen Care Trust we rely on a team of dedicated volunteers who help deliver services across the local community so that older members of our community are supported and cared for. Not only is volunteering a great way to help others, it's also a way of meeting new people, developing new skills and being a part of a warm and supportive community. Whether you can give a little time or a lot, we'd love to hear from you!

Our Commitment to Research
Evergreen is proud to be a member of the
NIHR Research Delivery Network – East Midlands Home Care Research Network (RELEC: Research, Learning & Excellence Community of Home Care Providers).
Our involvement ensures we remain connected to the latest developments in care, learning from and contributing to research that shapes the future of home care services.
In 2017, Evergreen undertook a three-year research study as a Community Partner alongside the Universities of Lincoln, Birmingham, and Brighton. This project explored the experiences of older people who self-fund their care and opened the door to valuable learning and innovation within our organisation.

Training & Development
At Evergreen, training is central to maintaining high standards of care across all our services. We are committed to ensuring that both staff and volunteers receive ongoing opportunities to learn, develop, and stay connected.
Our teams regularly come together for training and staff meetings, helping to:
-
Share knowledge and best practice
-
Strengthen teamwork and collaboration
-
Ensure consistent, high-quality support across all services
Training is inclusive and applies across the organisation, supporting not only paid staff but also volunteers involved in befriending, advocacy, and other services.
Our beliefs & Practices
The purpose of our research and training activity is to ensure that the support we provide is informed, responsive, and grounded in evidence-based practice. By engaging in research and ongoing learning, Evergreen aims to better understand the needs of those we support and continuously improve the quality of our services.
We believe that learning, collaboration, and the sharing of knowledge are essential in building strong, effective support systems. Through participation in research studies and regular training, we create opportunities to develop skills, strengthen practice, and enhance the wellbeing of our community.
The Evergreen Care Trust is a national VCSO Approved Provider and remains committed to maintaining high standards through continuous development, partnership working, and innovation.
