Volunteering with events
Why Volunteer with Evergreen?
What are the events?
Evergreen Care Trust hosts a range of events throughout the year, each designed to raise awareness of the support we offer to older and vulnerable people, while also generating vital funds for our charity. Our events are wonderfully varied — from stalls at local festivals and community tea parties to our annual ball, the Christmas Cracker raffle, library outreach tables and collaborations with other community groups. Whatever the occasion, we aim to ensure every event is both professional and enjoyable, creating meaningful opportunities for people to connect with our work and with one another.

Job requirements
Event volunteers play a key role in helping our activities run smoothly. Tasks may include setting up for events — such as working as a team to put up a gazebo — serving refreshments on occasion, promoting events locally, helping with planning, completing simple administration, engaging warmly and professionally with the public, and tidying away at the end.
While experience in planning or running events is helpful, it’s certainly not essential. What matters most is strong communication skills, a friendly and professional manner, and confidence when interacting with the general public. Enthusiasm and being a natural “people person” are essential qualities, and while basic IT skills can be useful for event planning, they are not required.

time requirements
Volunteering can take place both at our Evergreen office and at events across the local community. Hours are completely flexible, allowing you to choose the events and activities you’d like to be involved in.
All volunteers complete mandatory safeguarding training and take part in an Evergreen organisational induction, ensuring you feel confident, informed and supported from the very beginning.
At The Evergreen Care Trust we rely on a team of dedicated volunteers who help deliver services across the local community so that older members of our community are supported and cared for. Not only is volunteering a great way to help others, it's also a way of meeting new people, developing new skills and being a part of a warm and supportive community. Whether you can give a little time or a lot, we'd love to hear from you!

Example events
Each year Evergreen hosts a range of events from fundraisers, community events, sporting activities and much more. Our events team comes together on a regular basis to organise these events. Take a look below at some of our yearly and recent events.
Christmas Cracker
Every two years, the Evergreen Care Trust hosts our much‑loved Christmas Cracker — a 25‑day festive raffle with a prize won every single day. Over previous years, this event has raised more than £30,000, with tickets sold right across the community.
Evergreen Charity Ball
Every two years, we also host our charity ball — a special evening that brings together community champions, volunteers and staff to celebrate the achievements and positive impact happening across our community.
Evergreen Tea Parties
Each summer we celebrate a summer of tea parties as part of our fundraising iniitalives. This is a great way of building friendships and celebrating connection as part of our evergreen values.
Charity Art Trails
This year we are teaming up with Age Without Limits to provide an art trail down the High Street of Stamford. This event will help strengthen community ties and spread awareness for our cause.
