FRIENDS TOGETHER GROUP
Why Volunteer with Evergreen?
What is THE FRIENDS TOGETHER GROUP?
At The Evergreen Care Trust we rely on a team of dedicated volunteers who help deliver services across the local community so that older members of our community are supported and cared for. Not only is volunteering a great way to help others, it's also a way of meeting new people, developing new skills and being a part of a warm and supportive community. Whether you can give a little time or a lot, we'd love to hear from you!
Our Friends Together group runs twice a week and offers a welcoming space for seniors to come together, enjoy good company, and take part in light entertainment with refreshments. Each session includes a varied programme — singing, music, move-it-or lose it exercise sessions, bingo, arts and crafts, board games, and visits from guest speakers. Activities are split into two relaxed 20‑minute sessions, giving plenty of time for conversation, connection, and of course, cake. The venue has full disabled facilities to ensure everyone can join in comfortably.

aBOUT THE TEAM
Our Friends Together group is run by a dedicated team of Evergreen volunteers who are all fully trained and DBS‑checked, so you can feel safe, supported and warmly welcomed from the moment you arrive. Alongside them, our Social Engagement Lead plans and delivers a wide range of activities each week — from music and crafts to games, guest speakers and seasonal events — ensuring there’s always something enjoyable to take part in. We also work closely with local Duke of Edinburgh students, who often treat everyone to homemade cakes each week. Together, this friendly team creates a relaxed, sociable atmosphere where you can feel at home and look forward to every session.

Whether you enjoy creative activities, a friendly game, or simply chatting with others, there’s something for everyone. The group is relaxed, informal, and a lovely way to meet new people or reconnect with familiar faces. Many people tell us it’s the highlight of their week — a chance to unwind, laugh, and feel part of a caring community.
