Community Support

Why Volunteer with Evergreen?

What is community support?

Evergreen supports older people across Stamford, Bourne and the Deepings, and we know that sometimes you just need a hand with the small things. Our Community Support Service is here for those one‑off moments when life feels a bit tricky — whether it’s getting to an appointment, tackling a small job at home, or needing light help in the garden. All our volunteers are fully trained and DBS‑checked, so you can feel confident welcoming them into your home.

At The Evergreen Care Trust we rely on a team of dedicated volunteers who help deliver services across the local community so that older members of our community are supported and cared for. Not only is volunteering a great way to help others, it's also a way of meeting new people, developing new skills and being a part of a warm and supportive community. Whether you can give a little time or a lot, we'd love to hear from you!

The volunteer team

When you let us know you need help, we send your request out to our team of Community Support Volunteers. They choose to respond when they’re available, offering their time and kindness to make your day a little easier. The support they provide is varied — a lift to the doctor, help putting up a shelf, or simply lending a hand with a task that’s become difficult. Every visit is offered with respect, patience and a friendly face.

Gardening

how we can help

This flexible service is designed to give you practical help exactly when you need it. If transport is involved, volunteers can claim 45p a mile, which you simply reimburse. Many people tell us how much they value this small but meaningful support — it can make a big difference to your independence, confidence and peace of mind.

How to get in touch?

Our office is open Monday to Friday, 9am–4pm, to take new enquiries, and our Community Support Team operates across a range of hours to offer flexible support. To use our Community Support Service or to find out more, you can call Evergreen on 01780 765900 or email volunteer@evergreencare.org.uk.
