BIRCHTREE CAFE LUNCH

Why Volunteer with Evergreen?

What is THE BIRCHTREE LUNCH?

Evergreen, in partnership with the Birch Tree Café, launched a monthly social and friendship lunch in February 2024 for older people living in Easton on the Hill, Stamford and the surrounding villages. It’s a relaxed, welcoming space where you can enjoy good food, gentle conversation and the chance to meet new people in your community.

At The Evergreen Care Trust we rely on a team of dedicated volunteers who help deliver services across the local community so that older members of our community are supported and cared for. Not only is volunteering a great way to help others, it's also a way of meeting new people, developing new skills and being a part of a warm and supportive community. Whether you can give a little time or a lot, we'd love to hear from you!

  • Build rewarding friendships

  • Make a real impact on someone's life

  • Gain valuable experience and training

  • Be part of a supportive community

  • Uncover new places in the local area

  • Attend exciting events

  • Share laughter and stories

  • Opportunities tailored to your interests

The lunch takes place in a private room at the Birch Tree Café, where you can enjoy a delicious soup and roll or a freshly made sandwich, followed by tea, cake, and time to chat, play cards or enjoy a few games together — all for just £5. The café is run by young adults with Down’s Syndrome, who prepare the food, set the tables and serve guests. The lunch gives them a wonderful opportunity to grow in confidence, practice new skills and enjoy spending time with you, their guests.

TRANSPORT COVERED

We especially welcome older people who would love to come along but find it difficult to leave the house due to transport or other challenges. Where possible, we will do our best to support you so you can join us. Birch Tree Café is a vibrant, inclusive place where young people with Down’s Syndrome can work, socialise and be part of the community — and the monthly lunch has quickly become a popular, friendly gathering where everyone leaves with a smile.
